Communication is the Key to Relationships

Effective communication is the secret weapon when it comes to understanding and building attraction with your partner or potential partners. Effective communication can transform uncertainty into security, misunderstandings into clarity and fear into confidence. Communication is essential in all relationships.

Imagine this: You’re in an intimate relationship and you feel a sense of unease. You don’t know where the relationship is going, and this makes you feel uncertain. You’re not the only one who has experienced this situation. It’s common for most of us. Improving communication is one of the best ways to turn that feeling of uncertainty into confidence.

Here’s the interesting part. Women, in particular, often think they are good communicators because we express our thoughts. Many of us share our emotions first in the hope that our partner will reciprocate. This can lead to an over-sharing of feelings, before your partner.

Why is communication important in relationships?

Men don’t always behave the same way as women. If they are acting distant or withdrawn, you might not get the desired results by bombarding them with emotions. It might even make them more distant.

Talking endlessly about your emotions won’t help you understand the feelings of a man. You need to learn to communicate with him effectively. You will learn to communicate effectively with him in the Convinced in Love Pillar 4: Cultivate connection.

Another common pitfall is to expect the relationship to progress naturally towards commitment without clear communication. This can lead to disappointment in two scenarios.

Scenario #1: Instead of having an open discussion, you simply wait and hope that your partner eventually catches on. This leads to frustration and unmet expectation.

Scenario #2: Although you know what you want in a relationship, you pretend that you are happy with a casual arrangement when, in reality, you need something more. This can lead you to suppressed feelings and ultimately unhappiness.

You know that these situations can lead to a relationship breakdown if you find yourself in them. You are unfulfilled and unable to communicate your needs. Your partner is unaware of your wishes. Both parties are left feeling disappointed and frustrated.

What’s the real issue here?

It’s fear.

How can we overcome this fear to have an open, honest and effective communication?

Honesty is the answer.

Honesty can be a liberating quality, particularly in dating and relationship situations. Being completely honest and open feels great. Honesty can bring you closer to your partner, even when it seems like it will push them away.

The way you express your feelings and thoughts is important. Depending on how it is expressed, the message can be interpreted as either positive and constructive or negative and critical.

Bottom line, it’s fine to let your partner and yourself know what you desire. It’s actually a necessity. You can also tell your partner when their behavior does not match your expectations.

Communication is the key.

You cannot fake it. You must truly believe you will achieve your expectations, regardless of how much you love your partner.

What I call Confident In Love. Be confident that you can attract and maintain a healthy, happy relationship. You will become overly attached to the result and analyze every interaction if you don’t know if this is possible. You will do anything to make the relationship work. This creates anxiety in yourself, which your partner can feel.

Your partner is not scared of honesty. When you communicate what you feel or think, you can unknowingly send a negative vibe to your partner. Some partners will clam up and withdraw when they feel anxious.

Men are attracted to women who are honest and upfront about their desires in a relationship. It’s important to understand and in order to communicate effectively without appearing pushy, entitled, anxious or desperate. You’re doing the right thing if you can communicate with your partner in a manner that allows them to feel respected, not pressed.
